This blog is a chronicle of my experiences living and working overseas. I am originally from Oregon, USA and I am very, very proud to be an Oregonian. But I have a bit of wanderlust in me.
In the spring of 2012 I accepted a job working for the Abu Dhabi Education Council in the United Arab Emirates. I will complete that contract in July 2014.
In August 2014 I will be headed to Santa Ana, Costa Rica to join the staff of United World College Costa Rica. I am so excited to keep blogging as I continue to work and travel the world.
I’m going to AD too, and used to live in Spain, so I loved the Ojala to insha’Allah connection. Good luck on the journey and I’ll be following your blog. I live in Lacey, WA.
Thanks Connie! It is going to be an adventure for sure!
I’m already here teaching, and it’s a great adventure! If you can deal with never knowing anything for sure, last minute changes and 4 hour lunches – life here is pretty awesome. Good luck, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks! I will!
thanks for sharing the blog. i did have a question about the black camel farm you visited. were there many? do you see many black camels where you are?
loren
Hi Loren, it is my understanding that black camels (at least the ones in my photos) come from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This farm had just the ones in my photos (maybe 10). It was my first time seeing black camels. Hope that helps. 🙂
I enjoyed reading your blog and the photos of Victoria Falls… Beautiful! Looking forward to joining you in UAE soon. Sonjyia
Thanks! Let me know if you are placed in Al Ain.
Is there a way I could PM you? I have some questions about the UAE 🙂
