Movember

This is a special post, I don’t plan to do many like this, but this is something that is important to me and many people in the world. It is not about me, but about helping others. I hope you will accept this departure from my regular blog topics. Thanks!

It has been almost five years since my father passed away. He fought hard against a very aggressive cancer. This type of cancer, synovial sarcoma, is not common and doctors are still learning about it. Like many cancers, synovial sarcoma, can manifest itself in many ways.

Because cancers are continuing to change and adapt over time doctors and researchers must spend a lot of time learning and studying. And as we know, time is money. Research isn’t cheap.

So to my blog readers, I’m encouraging you to participate in Movember, to raise awareness of male-specific cancers and to also raise funds for research. Here is a bit of information from Movember’s website:

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

So to the men out there reading this, start growing that mustache!! If you are not interested in donating your face to the cause, maybe you could consider a monetary donation? This is a great time to donate to any cancer charity! If you aren interested in donating to the Movember cause,  my sister has started a  Movember fund-raising page in honor of our Dad. Please check it out.
